We provide premium quality lithium batteries of unrivalled intelligence: smart lithium batteries tailored for the telecom market.

Our standard battery offering is based on 19-inch, (23-inch as an option), modules each 2-3 U high. Each module is a completely self-contained mechanical unit with lithium battery cells and a battery management system (BMS) for charging/discharging control, temperature and voltage sensors as well as battery disconnect functionality. These are easily paralleled for increased capacity. We can also customize a battery solution to your specific needs. Contact us for more details.

Our BMS systems have a built-in charging algorithm which makes them plug-and-play compatible with existing rectifier systems for telecom use; so you can simply switch lead acid batteries for our lithium modules. Just connect the cables, turn on power – and walk away. You are now always connected and remotely managed.

Comparison Battery Technologies for Telecom

Compared with lead, lithium batteries have many benefits, such as half the volume, a quarter of the weight and five times higher energy density – which gives them a longer service life, especially in cyclic environments. This results in many types of cost savings.

SLB™ batteries

Incell’s Smart Lithium Battery™ range is well proven with 100’s of thousands of modules in operation around the globe. The SLB™ modules are using 21700 and 18650 cells of NMC or NCA type, but other chemistries can be used on request.

  • Compact design in 23” mounting, 2U height and 483 mm depth
  • Nominal 100 Ah (NMC chemistry)
  • Exceptional life; 15 years or 6000 cycles (NMC) at 80% DoD

 SLB™ 4U modules fit in any 19” rack or battery shelf. Each module provide the telecom system voltage normally -48V nominal.
The modules come in two different versions, one with 13 strings (13S) in series and one with 14S.
The NMC chemistry provides for very high energy density.

This battery replaces 8pcs 12V 12Ah Lead-Acid batteries in PBC-02 enclosure. Plug & play with existing rectifiers in PBC-02. Up to five times longer life compared with existing solution. 6000 cycles at 80% DoD.

Our standard battery offering is optimized for seamless replacement of VRLA units fully utilizing existing battery shelves*. Each module is a completely self-contained mechanical unit with lithium battery cells and a battery management system (BMS) for charging/discharging control, temperature and voltage sensors as well as battery disconnect functionality.

*e.g.: the new 23” product offers more than double capacity in the same space with reduced weight as shown in the picture to the right.

CLD™ – Current limiting device

Current Limiting Device: 

Rectifiers can generate high charging current depending on site conditions.  In this situation, most lithium batteries either shut-off or must actively interact with the rectifier controller, resulting in a high risk of failure.  Incell’s patented Current Limiting Device™ (CLD) enables our lithium batteries to be charged at any current without shutting down the battery module.

Anti-theft function: 

Theft of lead-acid batteries is common in many parts of the world.The reasons include: scrap metal value, private usage or re-sale back into the telecom infrastructure. With Incell’s 48V modules the first two reasons are eliminated. To address the last issue, Incell has developed a patented anti-theft feature for its SLB™ battery which completely disables the battery module if removed from the installation.

Hot swap of battery: 

Incell’s Current Limiting Device (CLD) cost effectively and with high efficiency equalize the charge current in to the batteries within the limits of the MOSFET. This intelligent feature to allow like for like replacement of VRLA batteries without complicated settings or adaptions. The ease of use gives plug n play installation.

SLB™ accessories

Incell has also developed a range of accessory products to its Smart Lithium Battery™ modules. This to optimize the performance of the SLB™ modules and package and attractive solution to our customers.

The Power Backup Manager™ is a smart and comprehensive site manager in a small package.

  • The PBM™ is providing real-time remote access of site and battery data to a cloud/ server based system like Always Connected™.
  • The PBM™ offers on-site control functions like start/stop of diesel genset, climate control as well as priority load disconnect.
  • The PBM™ offers a built-in battery anti-theft function that makes the batteries useless if removed from the customer.
